About Sportsbook Basics

What we do
We read official sources (state regulators, statutes, the IRS, the CFTC and the national helpline) and explain them in plain English, with a link and a verification date for every fact. We also provide free calculators that run in your browser. This site covers 11 states so far (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont); we add states in batches.
What we will not do
- No picks, tips, predictions, systems or betting advice, and no claims of guaranteed or "sure" profit.
- No links to sportsbooks and no affiliate deals. As of 2026-10-17 the site has no sponsors and shows only a placeholder ad space. See Disclosures.
- No content aimed at minors. Betting is for adults of legal age (21+ in most states; some are 18+).
- We never log in to, scrape or automate any sportsbook, and we collect no personal information.
How facts are checked
Pages are drafted with AI assistance from the linked public sources and then checked against them; every fact has a source link so you can verify it yourself. Where we could not read an official source, the page says so. Rules change; always confirm with your state regulator.
